South East England

South East England is the third-largest of the official regions of England by area, and has the highest population of all the regions. Stretching to the west as far as the Isle of Wight and Hampshire, right across to the tip of Kent and curling around London up to Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, the South East benefits from its close connection with the capital and the national transport network. It also offers residents close proximity to the continent and swift international connections via the Channel Tunnel, Gatwick and Heathrow on its border with Greater London.

The coast of the Isle of Wight in South East England

Where is South East England?

South East England stretches from Kent – the south-easterly tip of the UK – and curls around London and up into Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It stretches south west along the south coast as far as the Isle of Wight and Hampshire, including Portsmouth and Southampton.

South East England counties

Buckinghamshire

Home County Buckinghamshire shares a border with London to the south east, making it a prime commuter location for the capital with easy access to the rest of the UK. The Chiltern Hills attract many tourists to Buckinghamshire, while the Prime Minister’s retreat house at Chequers attracts a more select group of visitors to the county.

East Sussex

Well known for its beautiful white cliffs along the south coast and the verdant plains of the South Downs, East Sussex is also a county with a rich history. Herstmonceux, Pevensey and Lewes castles convey the strategic importance of this strip of land along the south coast – also the location of the Battle of Hastings.

Hampshire

Hampshire, along with the Isle of Wight and the unitary authorities of Portsmouth and Southampton, make up the south-westerly tip of the South East of England. One of the wealthiest counties in the UK, Hampshire also boasts beautiful scenery in the form of the New Forest and South Downs National Parks.

Isle of Wight

Sitting just off the south coast opposite Southampton and Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight is England’s largest island. Perhaps best known as a ‘staycation’ destination for Brits and for its annual music and sailing festivals.

Kent

Known as ‘the garden of England’ for its abundant fruit and hop produce, Kent now lays claim to a highly diversified economy. Its easy connections to both London and the Continent make this county a relatively affluent area with plenty of attractive towns and the iconic White Cliffs of Dover.

Oxfordshire

Right on the western edge of the South East England region sits Oxfordshire. The city of Oxford is the county’s chief urban centre, with its world-famous university, publishing house and associated biotechnology industry. Also includes three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Chilterns, the Cotswolds and the North Wessex Downs.

Berkshire

A Home County and a Royal County thanks to the presence of Windsor Castle. Berskshire borders Greater London to the east, offering residents swift access to the capital, as well as beautiful stretches of countryside that include Windsor Great Park, Swinley Forest and the Berkshire Downs.

Surrey

Sitting below Greater London to the south west, Surrey is another prime commuter county. Train links into London are swift and regular, and parts of the county sit within the capital’s travel zones. Surrey has the most woodland of all English counties and is split in two by the chalk ridge that forms the North Downs.

West Sussex

Directly below Surrey and stretching down to the south coast lies West Sussex. Much of the county consists of protected green areas, offering residents and visitors a wealth of countryside areas for outdoor pursuits.

Great location

Great location, tesco and coop within 5 minute walking distance for any quick shopping. A good range of restaurants also within walking distance. Property is a stone’s throw from the marina and is lovely to walk around the area which is generally quiet and pleasant. Parking is on residential private car park where you have to display a permit. The spaces can get taken quite quickly leaving you with no choice but to park under the trees… the birds quickly make your car very dirty! Communal bin area is very dirty and smells, also sometimes get overfilled with waste and bags are left on the floor, then council refuse to collect rubbish and it piles higher and higher. The courtyard area is well maintained and quite nice to sit in, sometimes kids are playing there.

Please review your development:

The exterior design of the buildings is on the older side but still fine. Interior wise most flats have old storage heaters installed as opposed to radiators, which are very unsightly. The windows are relatively new and the kitchen fittings are in good working order and not that old. The communal bin area could do with improvement.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking availability can be limited in evenings and nights if coming home late. If you forget to display your permit you will get fined, so it’s better to stick the permit onto the windscreen of your car.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I haven’t raised any issues with building management.

Very enjoyable place to live

The location is amazing, I couldn’t ask for a better spot. I work in the town centre so it’s really convenient to live beside it.

Please review your development:

The building is beautiful, modern and very well maintained. I see staff every day tidying and cleaning the communal areas to keep them presentable, they do a great job.
Staff are friendly, helpful. They know what flat we live in which is nice considering the amount of tenants here, and know our names etc, they always say hello to us which is lovely.
The key fob entry feels secure, and having a parcel room is so handy to ensure things are delivered to a safe place when not at home. There is free access to the gym with a range of machines, not fully equipped but very good nonetheless.
The only downside is the lack of storage cupboards within the apartment making it easy for the open kitchen/living areas to seem cluttered.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The outside area has been under construction for the duration of our stay (3 years). I was under the impression that it would be finished sooner. It’s not a big deal but there are still materials and machinery outside often which is not too slightly. Hopefully this will be complete soon!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They are amazing. I have locked my keys in the apartment more than once.. but they have immediately helped me when asked and any general maintenance has always been dealt with quickly as well

Great access to Bracknell town centre. Can sometimes be a bit noisy when The Lexicon has an event in Bond Square.

Please review your development:

Really friendly staff, always available and attentive. Building is well looked after and there’s a great gym that I use a lot. The lifts are quick, but with how populated the building is, they are often out of service or occupied a lot of the time. Loving it.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking is a bit far off site, would’ve been nice to be shown this area upon viewing.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Promptly and with great care. I have only had a few issues to speak on.
