Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Woolwich has a known history of crime, this is still true to the current day and crime is more noticeable than other parts of London. Train links are excellent, there is also a good range of shops but outside the RAR development, the few ones inside have expensive prices. Also the properties have prices which are skewed up and they don't reflect the true value. Very few restaurants are available. All Royal arsenal is very well kept, tidy and quiet at night.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The building management is usually quite responsive, however they sometimes fail to act on issues that are widespread, e.g. badly managed silverfish infestation or lack of security in crucial areas, like bike racks.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
The entire building is locked to a specific heating provider and can't be changed. Standing charges are absurdly high because they retain the monopoly, so expect spending £400/year even if not using heating at all. The second worst thing is the balcony rule, nothing can be put outside to dry. Ultimately, flats aren't fitted for LED lighting without expensive re-adaptation, all light bulbs are old 20w fluorescent/60w halogen lamps.
