Great development awful builders

Love the development however lived here over 3 years & in that time had a completely new kitchen, new flooring and still after 3 years waiting for faulty doors to the balcony to be fixed as-we have a huge draft, Weston homes aftercare is awful and once we completed they wasn’t interested, 3 winters of having to seal our doors with tape & towels to keep the cold out & from what I’ve heard we are not the only ones! Be 100% confident all is good before completion or choose a better builder.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great area, close to amenities & easy access to transportation, close to parks & river and lovely walks

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes but not resolved the issue and lacking in a resolution

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Viewed for the first time the day prior to completion and basically forced to complete as assured all issues we raised would be dealt with swiftly. 3 years on still have issues

DONT BUY

DONT BUY A STRATA HOUSE Plumbing, Windows and brick work very poor. customer service is shocking. Raised concerns about vents that were defective and looked to be faulty. The vents had a massive gap between the windows and the actual vent allowing a large draft through even when vents closed. This was the case on every window. Window fitters came to look at the vents whilst I was at work. I came home to be absolutely shocked to find they had sealed all of the vents with silicone, which is clearly not what should have been done Obviously I wasn’t happy with this and raised this further. They then came back out and agreed they needed replacing. This was then raised with Strata who decided they couldn’t be bothered to resolve this and just closed it down. When I chased this up I was told I’m now out of warranty and will not be taking this further. I have giving them ample opportunity to resolve this just to be ignored. Therefore I’m writing this review and will now be opening a claim to take this to NHBC and a small claims court. If you want your house to be bodged then buy a strata house. If not then I’d advise you to stay well away. They also managed to build my garage 3ft higher than it should have been meaning I have 2ft of foundation sticking above ground and again failed to rectify. I’ve had multiple leaks from toilets and sinks, 4 attempts to fix a leaking toilet from day one. Kinked pipes which I’ve resolved myself. MeadFleet the ground works company will just increase there prices whenever they want. This has increased by over 100% in 2 years and quality of the work is poor. Still rubble all over the place from 4 years ago. I’ve been dealing with customer services who bare face lies and will not return any calls. If someone would like to contact me regarding this feel free. Plot 4 Aura.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Failed, lied about responses, didn’t call back on multiple occasions and failed to honour warranty.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

MeadFleet raising prices every couple of months, general maintenance not included in grounds costs such as cutting back trees

Good quality development but need a bit more care and be more security

Dec 2022

Indoors the designer is nice finish and good quality, good space. It’s close the station, near the town center, the down side I found is the windows outside, since I moved it never been cleaned, I made a request but so far none one came yet to clean it, the noise from the train station, I cannot leave the windows open, even though close and double glazing I can still listen the train…

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Parking availability is poor as I don’t have parking space and can’t park anywhere near by…unfortunately sometimes the building is a bit untidy perhaps residents or visitors or other people enter in the building there are no control I suppose… There are not mat on the main entrance and when it’s raining the area is hazard… as there are no security, the large post is place on the floor, there aren’t a console table available to place it etc…

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I raised an issue with the sales but they left it unresolved, they response was “ I am sorry we cannot do anything more for you in this regard and hope you are enjoying your new home.”

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Before I signed the papers I should consult someone due to a promotion they benefit someone else instead, I wasn’t aware so I didn’t have the choice as it was imposed to me on the day by the sales team and I felt I was in disadvantage, I complained but no one listening to me.

Fab location, quiet development and spacious flats

Laura R (Owner)

Nov 2022

The flats themselves have been designed and finished to a high spec. The only issue is the communal areas are scruffy and the management of the bin rooms is terrible. We have recently undergone a change in management company, so things may improve from there. Also half the development pay ground rent and the other don’t which isn’t fair.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Location couldn’t be more perfect. Even though it’s on the main road, you can barely hear it. The transport links are brilliant, there’s a bus stop directly outside the development and the mainline train station is a short 10 minute walk away.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have had a few problems which have mostly been dealt with quickly, although some things I have had to chase repeatedly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

My only issue would be I wish we were in sooner as we were delayed by 3 months.

Building & property management has not been good so far. Design of the properties are good. The aspect of being able to choose certain things yourself really elevates the property making it completely yours - no 2 properties are the same because each person has been able to select certain things for themselves.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Range and quality of local shops & restaurants is good. Easy walking distance, plus right next to a bus stop and walking distance to train station. Parking on the development is bad and there have been lots of issues with bin collection.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They have been really slow at responding and there have been multiple issues but I think this is to do with a confusing handover from property to building management.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The bin collection is not the same as other properties in Brentwood.
