Shocking build quality and the WORST Customer Service you'll ever encounter

Build quality is absolutely appalling. Houses thrown together with the cheapest materials and poor workmanship. I do not have the emotional energy to list all the defects and issues we have had. In some respects this would have been less of an issue, if Crest Customer Service (CCS) dept and onsite Crest personal had taken responsibility for the numerous (& significant) defects and sorted out in a timely manner. In reality, trying to get any response and action from CCS is like pushing water uphill with a rake. Almost exclusively ignore their self-imposed 3-day response time to emails. Never return calls. And that's not the worst of it, CCS are rude, evasive and try to push the blame for any issues onto the owner. This is our second Crest home and sadly something has very much changed for the worse... Crest are greedy and have no regard or respect to those who buy and live in their developments. We are at the stage of escalating a number of issues to NHBC and rue the day we bought the property NEVER AGAIN!!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Just how bad build quality (or lack of) is and ineptness of Crest Customer Service

What is the best feature of your home:

The neighbours are lovely and the location is also great.

The design of the houses and site is very attractive. These do not look like traditionally flat, boring new build houses but have a bit of character which I like. We had an issue with one of our radiators not working when we first moved in but the plumbers came the same day to fix it.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Bishops Waltham is a lovely place to live. Our site is less than 5 minutes walk to the corner shop and children's playground/football field. Our street is very quiet with lots of parking available.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We are on clay soil which doesn't drain very well, meaning the bottom of the garden was quite boggy before we added drainage.

What is the best feature of your home:

We have a large, south facing garden which I wouldn't have expected in a new build.

An estate with lots of character that has the best of both worlds, close to amenities as well as the countryside

Design of the home works for our families needs. The positioning of the garage could have been better as it has been built in such a way that it takes up a large chunk of our garden. We did not have a good experience with the sales office and we have not had much dealings with the property management although the premises are well maintained. Great schools in the area and on bus route.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great country walks from Tangier Gardens. Easy walk into town. On bus routes. Sainsburys Local, Garage, wonderful coffee shops and Post Office nearby. Quiet Estate with friendly people.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I did not know there was Priory Park right next door for our children. This was a lovely surprise for our kids once we had moved in.

What is the best feature of your home:

It's position, close to everything although still feels remote.

There could be worst places

No infrastructure for children to play, no green spaces for them to run around or kick a ball. The “design” of the houses look nice but that’s as far as it goes, they haven’t been built with any practical thought, they’ve been thrown up just to make the developers money. In terms of properly management well if you like being look down on from middle age men, then again this is the place for you, they talk the talk but don’t walk the walk, and so so so JUDGEMENTAL!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The school is excellent! And the village itself is lovely, and there is some lovely walks but you have to fight with a main road before you can get to any countryside, with having kids and only 1 pedestrian crossing it’s not ideal. They’ve built the Estste with to make money, no real thought has gone into well who would buy these houses aka FAMILIES! There is no infrastructure been put in place to make it safe for children to walk to and from school. In terms of the neighbours well if you enjoy having an neighbour who is constantly calling out ambulances then it’s definitely the place to live.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That we where going to be housed next to someone who is incredibly rude, abuses alcohol, and is incredibly inconsiderate for those around her. The gardens look “like the perfect space” for children to play in, yet there is no proper drainage it floods, and then dies. I have asked for some help with regards to this but like everything else it’s goes over everyone’s head. If I was in a finical position to buy one of the houses on the estate I would avoid like the plague the gardens are shocking and the lack of love care and attention that should go into building a house, well they have missed the calling card for that one.

What is the best feature of your home:

The bedroom sizes and that there are 2 toilets, oh and the insulation!

Reliable design in Bishops Waltham

The development has been very well designed and looks unique and in keeping with local historical designs in Bishops Waltham. Some of the planting is a bit samey but there has been a good selection of hard wearing shrubs used throughout. Some of the street lighting is at a precarious angle and requires fixing. The one issue I'm experiencing is the vortex of wind that sweeps across the car park into the garden. More trees to help break up the wind would be welcomed.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Close to good sized small town with choice of good schools, shops and amenities. Strong community feel and good, quiet location.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Gas hob could have been more energy efficient halogen hob as we're all trying to move away from fossil fuels.

What is the best feature of your home:

Solar panels and insulation, and the ample garden space which I've loved designing over the last year since moving in.
