Beautiful flat by the sea

Design is good - good quality finish, lovely wood floor. The main negative is getting a response when I have problems or queries. I phoned Clarion about zero pressure in my heating system in January (which would stop it working, and might indicate a water leak, so it is not a minor issue). I followed this up a few weeks later with an email and a further email in May - no response at all beyond the initial acknowledgment. Someone came round in June (nearly 6 months later) as part of servicing every flat. Between the builder, the housing association and the management company it’s difficult to know who to contact when there’s a problem.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great location right by the beach - lively in good weather, but you really notice the storms! Good choice of shops and pubs, large Tesco 10 mins walk away. I was initially sceptical of shared ownership, but it’s enabled me to live in a flat of a quality far above what I could afford before.

Nothing

Please share one thing (or more) which you would change about your development:

A balcony with solid floor and drainage, rather than gaps between the boards where water from the upstairs balcony drips through.

A lovely place to live - great views!

I love the design of the building and the interiors have a high end finish; however there are new build snagging issues in all the flats which are were not addressed within the Building Code timescales and are now, seemingly, a flat owner problem. The design of the window and doors mean that may flats have water ingress. The internal rising cupboards channel the winds and create a strange howling in the flat when the wind is above 40 mph!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Hove sea front is a fantastic place to live; lots of local shops, restaurants and bars. The 700 bus takes you into the centre of Brighton in just 15 minutes. Bin collections are great in the building. There is a level of anti-social behaviour that is as expected on any sea front. Not having parking is a problem if you are a car owner.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That Clarion were such a terrible Housing Associate to work with as their staff just don't know the building or what to do about the issues. On the plus side, this has led to the creation of a strong neighbour group as we work together to resolve the issues in the new build flats.

What is the best feature of your home:

The view! The fittings are high quality. The room sizes are good.
