Development is great, does not feel like a concrete jungle unlike other developments around the area. The school and the space where shops will eventually go is central to the development which is ideal for everyone. Taylor Wimpey have been overall a great builder for us to deal with, the street layout for us is perfect. Great space for kids to play safely. The factoring service started up last year so a few teething issues but they are working hard to maintain the place and I am sure will sort itself out.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Overall so glad I have moved to Calderwood. The area is brilliant for families. School and nursery look great and I look forward to my son going there. The area feel’s open and doesn’t feel like a concrete jungle although concerns when they do add flats to certain areas that may change the feel. At present still awaiting a shop but aware this is in the plans. The country park is a short walk away and has great walks and a park for the children. Bus route goes through Calderwood at present but do feel the roads are too tight for buses so would prefer they just stayed at top of development and no come through. As it’s only a 5min walk from school to top of main road so not far. The train station in Kirknewton is about 20minute walk away, there is plans for a park and ride here. The trains aren’t as regular as the other rail line that goes through West Lothian but hopefully that may change down the line. Parking - each house has at least one space many have two. Also each area has allocated parking. Calderwood cafe is a fantastic cafe which has been offering delivery (by bike) which is environmentally friendly and great for days you don’t wish to leave the house. Long as the area continues to have open space and continues to plant greenery it will be a lovely area to live in.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wish we had moved to Calderwood sooner. Great place to live. Great community feel. Can’t wait for the future of the development.

What is the best feature of your home:

Downstairs living areas - open and bright. Great for socialising.

I have had a very smooth transition into moving into Calderwood and Eddie the site manager was fantastic and very helpful. It will be much better when a shop etc opens up on site. The new school is outstanding and my kids have settled in great.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

There isn’t any shops yet but hopefully not long to follow and then the estate will accommodate everything

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The cost for the surrounding gardening I think it is extreme to what actually gets done

What is the best feature of your home:

Open plan kitchen dinning is a great space for families and the master bedroom is huge love it

A lovely community, with huge potential. Avoid Taylor wimpy for the opportunity to have a family home that is well build and a developer that cares.

We have had a several issues with our property and this was being addressed initially but now Taylor wimpy are not interested in completing the work and any work completed was not done to a high standard. We have reported several issues ourselves and yet to get a professional snager in so it will be interesting to see the vast amount of snags outstanding. The communal areas are very run down and make the overall area appear untidy and unkempt. TW promised us some compensation, we waited months for this then retracted their offer. Work was carried out to a very poor standard which took months to complete. it was evident each worker that presented did not want to carry out the work, one worker advised us that this was due to them being offered less hourly pay for doing our job.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

We are so lucky, living so close to Almondell, it is beautiful. The commute to Edinburgh does not take long at all and the area has a good community feel. Parking is limited for visitors, some residents use the limited parking spaces and so the space for visitors is sparse. There are NO pavements within the Taylor wimpy development, this is concerning having 2 small children. It's disappointing that there's still no glass recycling collection. We stay close to a street mostly used for pedestrians, unfortunately there's a car that uses it as a race course and wheel spins up and down it. Looking forward to the bar being built to enhance social opportunity with neighbours and there's a new primary school although this is yet to impress me. The nursery appears to have an excellent outdoor area.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How poorly built our brand new family home would be and the lack of interest from TW staff from bricklayer to managing director.

What is the best feature of your home:

The garden space for the children. We done the garden ourselves and it seems to get the sun, when the sun decides to actually shine. It seems to be very windy though. The layout of the kitchen diner also.

Can't ask for better

The development has alway impressed me, from the initial plans, to moving into the new build home. Other than some slight snagging/typical new-build issues, the building/design has been top notch. When they were still near-by, the local builders and building management were always happy to lend a helping hand.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area is very pleasant, lots of young families near by, who often visit the play-parks and grassy areas within a 5 minute walk. There are some shops/bars etc. around a 10-15 minute walk from the estate, which are good value for money. Closer to home, there is lots of free parking, and very little heavy traffic.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known that building would continue around us for quite some time.

What is the best feature of your home:

My wife and I love our large, south facing garden.

We love our Taylor wimpy in Calderwood

I love the design of the Taylor wimpy homes. They are very well laid out, a variety of sizes and the best value for money in Calderwood in my opinion. When we moved in we had minimal snagging and this was addressed within days. The staff were very attentive and professional but also friendly and understanding.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Quite street, Calderwood on the whole is very quiet. Shops, cafes and pub all within walking distance. Livingston centre a short drive or bus journey away as is central Edinburgh. The bus to livingston, Bathgate and Edinburgh leaves from Calderwood every half hour. Lovely walks down into the country park.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Lovely place to live, very quiet and peaceful.

What is the best feature of your home:

Bedroom sizes, quality finished, minimal snagging as the staff are so vigilant.
