A happy home on the outskirts of Newmarket

The overall development is good and has a nice range of properties. Space between plots is generous meaning that you are not overlooked. The property we are in is well designed and has plenty of natural night. Nearby facilities are average and it is currently too early to reflect on property management.

Close to central Newmarket with a few local shops nearby. Transport links to Cambridge are fair, but could be improved.

We do wish we had known more about what to expect in terms of snags.

What is the best feature of your home:

The amount of natural light in the main living area is great.

Development could do with improvements, the car park is often left in bad state. This is mainly by builders leaving rubbish after their shifts. The outdoor spaces are also left in bad state. Overall everything is good and the overall feel is also positive

Bin store is sometimes overloaded so maybe another bin would be useful to manage this. Also a window cleaner would be great, especially for the higher windows!

Some of the neighbours aren’t the best but this is to be expected

A very modern feel home with lots of nice space. ?

From when we first thought about purchasing a property with Carla homes, the sales team were efficient, professional and answered all our questions, giving suggestions as and where appropriate. We felt the process of buying with this company, easy and supportive at all points. We were given clear explanations of timescales and expectations on both sides. When moving in, the site manager visited straight away and a home-from-home welcome pack was left for our arrival. Within a few days the site management team visited to see if there was any problems with the property and explained the process of reporting ‘snags’ and the timescales they would be completed by. The house itself is spacious, open plan in the main areas and for a brand new property, a very reasonable price. We are thoroughly pleased with our new home and have the peace of mind that we have an excellent customer care team at hand if problems arise. They act swiftly and resolve issues in a timely manner. The on site site team are polite, personable and go above and beyond what they need, to resolve snags quickly.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

There is a local convenience shop along with a Chinese and Indian takeaway within a 5 minute walk. A larger co-op and laundrette is situated within a 10 minute walk and under 15 minute walk you can find a large tesco superstore opposite McDonald’s and a bathroom store. Within 10 minutes you can walk to a good sized recreational area. There is good parking without any restrictions and the development site is quite self contained away from the busy road. Bin collections are prompt and efficient although glass is not collected via your blue bins as this is something Suffolk does not do. There are local bottle banks within a 10 minute walk. Traffic noise is minimal however the main road is very busy and if you are a cat owner you should consider this a risk. Within a 5 minute drive you will reach the centre of Newmarket with a plethora of cafes, restaurants and shops with very reasonable car parking facilities. An enjoyable day can be spent in Newmarket.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

An estimation of costs for amenities would have been useful in order to plan finances. We had to wait for nearly 3 months before gas and electricity were billed. Also, get ahead with your council tax payments.

What is the best feature of your home:

It has given myself and my family the chance to have our own individual spaces but still feel the closeness of a family home.

We are very pleased with the design and facilities of our home. We were able to choose tiling, carpets, flooring etc which allowed us to make this home our own. These were executed well and have had minimal issues with the home. If we did the building management were easy to communicate with.

Location is walking distance to Newmarket centre which is great. Not much in the way of greenery locally, so need to drive for good dog walks/public footpaths is the only negative location wise.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Make sure to ask about privacy signs to be put around your home if there is still construction going on at the end of the road

What is the best feature of your home:

Although they are new builds they have a lot of space, character and lovely large gardens
