Worth every penny

We bought a fairway house type and we really like the shape of it and that it isn't just a rectangular box. Only really downside is the lack of utility room and the storage space isn't great. We have been lucky with out home but any issues we have had DWHs were very quick to remedy them.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The new streets are quite narrow and can be difficult to drive on when cars are parked on the streets. There isn't much of a provision for guest parking.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We got lucky with out plot as the location of it is great, but in hindsight we would have considered its position on the estate much more carefully. Where are your neighbours, how much traffic will go past your house, are you overlooked by other houses, will you have a view, etc.

What is the best feature of your home:

The double French doors leading out to the garden.

The design of the development is ok

The design of the development is ok, it’s let down by the slope of site that means many of the gardens are lower than those above and other houses further tower over everything. There are too many big houses built right next to each other and many houses directly overlook each other.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I like the area ashbourne is a lovely town with loads of pub and cafes and some nice shops. It’s also very close the Peak District national park.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I’d known how poorly the garden and landscaping was going to be done.

What is the best feature of your home:

It’s 3 storey layout offers a lot of space with 3 good size bedrooms.

Location is good, but after a while back up service is NOT very good at all very helpful salesperson ,we have had to have new front door and frame as it was put in crooked, both of our shower trays replaced because they had not been beaded in properly and cracked, radiator in downstairs cloakroom (rusty and leaked) to with we had to change our selves and various other small problems

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Not many shops , restaurants in the area. Parking on the Main Street and at junction is dangerous,as well as parking on the pavement so you can not get a pushchair or wheelchair through.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

General building quality

What is the best feature of your home:

The size and layout of the property is great, and that is why we purchased this property

too many houses crammed in to optimise space

Design is poor, too many houses crammed in to optimise space. Towering of property which could have been levelled, and houses positioned with views of other houses immediately opposite. Property manage has been good when dealing with personal issues. Building management is probably the same as it is on all development sites. Sub contractors take the mic, staff and management are respectable.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Area is lovely, a small market town with lovely places to eat and drink. Expensive council tax but feel it is worth it. Bins are not always collected which is poor considering you pay extra for this service on top of your council tax. Traffic noise is OK.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how high the houses were going to be behind me, 3 years later they're now being build and I am offered no privacy.

What is the best feature of your home:

The master bedroom, large size on a seperate floor to provide privacy when guests stop over.

Ramblers gate - not all is great!

Sara (Owner)

Verified Resident

The estate is poorly designed with most properties back to back and fully overlooked. There is poor inadequate lighting around the estate particularly around the paths which are unlit and unsafe for use. There are no dog litter bins and lots of dog faeces on the grass areas. Contractors are inconsiderate.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Transport links are good for buses - stop is by the estate. Parking is not good on areas of the estate as drives are not adequate on most properties. Bin collections are sporadic which is poor considering the high rate of council tax. Ashbourne has tourist focused shops but is pretty and has plenty of pubs.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How great the neighbours are!

What is the best feature of your home:

Large open plan kitchen diner with patio doors and glassed area
