A perfect option for Manchester newcomers

The good: Excellent hot running water, high speed internet, a perfect location just outside of the main city centre, perfect for people new to Manchester, shops and pub nearby, excellent working spaces, car parking is expensive but good quality, kitchen areas are designed well, apartments have tonnes of storage, the furnishings and design is modern. The bad: Mailroom needs work, a little more expensive that other options (but worth it IMO), bills can creep up if you use a lot of hot water, it can get a bit noisy at night during summer (that seems very normal).

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The good: great location for people who want to live close to the city, but not in the city. Reduced noise and nice to have access to retail park nearby. The bad: Doesn't effect the price, people parking illegally is a recent problem.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Peel Park is excellent for sunny days. Sainburys retail park has all of the things you could need when moving in. Coworking space is greta if you're WFH.

What is the best feature of your home:

Hot water, great storage, huge fridge, fast uncapped internet

Buildings themselves are well designed, safe and secure.

Good design of flats. Buildings themselves are well designed, safe and secure. The communal areas are well maintained. Post provision is awful. They've outsourced it to another company and we lose parcels all. the. time. Getting ridiculous. The parcel company takes no responsibility. Delivery companies take no responsibility. Sellers take no responsibility. Middlewood Locks take no responsibility.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Lots to like. Walking distance of most of Manchester city centre, and the opening of Factory International and the accompanying bridge connecting it with Salford makes a big difference for access. Bus links are poor, but that's a broader issue. No major issues with antisocial behaviour or traffic noise.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing really. The viewing was informative and matched by the actual experience.

What is the best feature of your home:

Comfort. It's bigger than many other new developments in Salford and Manchester.

I Like It Here

It's a modern, pretty property with the required amenities and decent sized spaces. There's a mail room but no concierge, which can make the order delivery process a bit hectic and disorganised. Overall, I'll live here again because I appreciate the thought that has gone into making the space work.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Middle wood locks is located very close to Regent Retail Park, and that is one of my favourite about leaving here; proximity to the essential shops. There are also a number of quick eats around; McDonald's, KFC, Seven Brothers, etc. There's also a canal just outside the gate and this gives it a special effect.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They've been prompt in answering our calls and sorting any issues I've had since moving

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I think I would have loved to know that not paying for a parking space would mean that my delivery van would not be allowed to the underground parking and I would have to lug my things in from the street.

The design of the apartments is great

Dec 2022

The design of the apartments is great, there is definitely more storage on offer than most other developments in and around the city centre, which was a big selling point for me. The area around Middlewood Locks is also quite unique for the city centre location, with plenty of grass and benches around. Security are helpful and responsive, but I have heard people say property management can be quite delayed and not as proactive as people would like.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Middlewood Locks is a great place for socialising, with a local bar where there are often events held, a coffee shop and a rotating ‘restaurant’ each week. The location is great, however there is a real lack of parking availability in Salford, so unless you’re prepared to pay a chunk out of your salary for parking, it’s probably best to not move here if you’re commuting.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

An issue I raised with my landlord (cracked balcony glass) when I moved in was addressed some time later my building management, even though I wasn’t expecting it to.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking availability - worth looking at available spaces before moving.

Excellent Modern Flats on Salford/Manchester Boarder

Xavier C (Tenant)

The flats are spacious and rooms are good sizes. Very well insulated in terms of keeping heat in and noise out. 2 keyed access points of the buildings which feels extremely safe and key access to the car park below. Balcony’s are a good size and pets are allowed which is a bonus for pet owners.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great place to live with excellent transport links and near by shops and gyms. Great views of the city centre form the north facing balcony’s.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have only needed to contact them once when a key fob broke and they fixed instantly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is a building site on the opposite side of the canal which can sometimes cause loud noises but only heard when windows are open and tends to be 9-5 Monday Friday only.
