Lovely estate with easy access to main roads.

Big, open plan living space with good size rooms and large windows. Compared to the size of the development there is not enough street lighting. The communal green areas need to be kept tidy all year round. Hyperoptic broadband had already been installed which is a nice feature.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Quiet location with easy access to main roads and M40. Small variety of shops on the high street with only one small co-op.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish we knew that our next door neighbours would be so noisy.

What is the best feature of your home:

Large open plan living space with big windows that allow plenty of light.

Lovely area, building standards lacking.

The design and facilities are not great. Our front door is on a different road to the address so everyone gets lost trying to find us. I'm unsure why the front door couldn't be placed on the correct road. The front (main) door to our flats is directly next to a bedroom and it keeps people awake. The buildings are not particularly soundproof and I can hear every noise my neighbours make. We have French doors in our bedroom which is at the front of the building on the main road, so we rarely have them open as it's too noisy. Again, not sure why they couldn't have been in the living room/at the back of the building. We have two cupboards (one airing cupboard and one about half the size of an airing cupboard) in the hallway. We've found storage to be an issue (especially for bulky items like pushchairs, camping equipment, etc). There were several trees and shrubs planted around the development but only the show homes are maintained so a lot of these have now died. We get a lot of condensation and mould which the trickle vents do nothing to ease. The living room is spacious and the wood-effect kitchen is nice. The internal and external doors are nice. The communal areas are finished to a good standard. The windows do a good job at minimising external noise.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area is lovely, great amenities and a good sense of community. Everything in the village is within walking distance: shops, pharmacy, barbers, butchers, play parks, etc. Bin collection is regular and efficient. As is the bus that runs through, although there is only one. We've experienced some anti social behaviour, traffic noise is pretty loud and there are lots of helicopters late at night but overall the area is nice.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I'd have known how noisy it was going to be. From road noise, to helicopters, to magpies, to loud neighbours - it's a lot.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature is probably the location. It's a lovely village with good access to other local villages and towns. Rural feeling without being disconnected from society.

Our house is lovely and retains heat really well during the winter

Our house is lovely and retains heat really well during the winter. The development as a whole is really nicely laid out with lots of green space. The houses are not too closely clumped together so the estate has a really lovely feel. The houses are designed in a lovely appealing way and have generous gardens.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The village is lovely with all the local services that you need. The only downside is you have to travel over 10 minutes to a train station but this is not too much of an issue.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That there were lots more estates being built around the Benson area.

What is the best feature of your home:

The french doors opening onto the garden are a lovely feature of the house.

First time in a new build

Simon A (Owner)

In general, the design of the houses is great. Each double room is actually a double room.and thought has gone into adding additional network points in rooms which is useful. The only negative is the lack of storage and size of fridge in the kitchen which is inadequate for a family home.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Benson is a great area to live in. It has some lovely amenities in the local village along with the local towns, Wallingford and Didcot

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How weather effects the garden (lots of pooling when it rains)

What is the best feature of your home:

The size of the rooms and thought gone into the design.

Improvements needed

Anna K (Tenant)

The communal outdoor garden areas need maintenance on a monthly basis. Roads are very narrow for a 2-way traffic system in the estate. A supermarket is needed for the residents of the development as there is only a small co-op in the High Street which gets really busy.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

A lot of traffic problems around the development especially during rush hours - Benson is a very small village with only a couple of local shops.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish we had known that our next doors would be so noisy on a daily basis.

What is the best feature of your home:

Large open plan kitchen / living room space and a big garden.
