Love the layout of the apartment

Love the layout of the apartment. Problems with windows but were rectified with in a decent time frame. The builders are very friendly and knowledgeable of the site and keep us more informed than the actual customer service team. Has been some issues with the automatic door systems in the rain

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Still under construction, but love the location. Some responses can be slow but overall I think pretty good.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The parking is a bad situation. This was miss sold to many residents, we are waiting rectification from them but no luck as of yet

What is the best feature of your home:

The bathroom, the interior is very modern and high quality. Water pressure is good.

The building management is good and responsive

The development is not completed. All the comercial stores are not finished and we just have the workers around. It looks like it will be great when complete. Bike storage and podium area are great, but I don’t see the purpose for so many showers in the bike storage. I believe residents would profit from a sauna instead of 5 showers there. The building management is good and responsive. The lay out of my 2 bedroom flat is great.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Local shops within walking distance. Bus stops right by the development taking to city centre and major universities. Easy walk to the seafront.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That as a shared ownership buyer, I could not get a parking place with my flat.

What is the best feature of your home:

The comunal podium is great. It really brings the residents together and gives a sense of community to the development.

An Absolute Disgrace.

As stated above , the Home X development is half finished so we are essentially living on a building site, with no updates whatsoever from Southern. As far as our property is concerned its not fit for purpose. We have listed the various things needing fixed several times but since Sept we have not heard anything from aftercare. So, going into the new year we have a leaking boiler and having to empty a bucket 2 times a day (reported to Switch 2 on the 18th Dec) We cannot use our ensuite shower as the shower tray is leaking water and causing damage to the floor/tiles (someone came out to fix but the fix hasn't worked, so reported again) There is various other issues, too many to list here. One other major issue is not being able to set up accounts with Utilita and Switch 2 as both utility companies didn't have the property registered, due to Southern not supplying the required information for the switch to happen. We've spent literally hours on the phone to both companies since 21st Aug but still not resolved. The only positive is the fact that Living City Management and the onsite property managers have been really helpful. Southern Housing have been completely absent and communication almost non existent, similar to our terrible experience with Southern in the build up to our completion date. We've already complained about our completion day which was completely traumatic and finished with my wife in tears. On what should have been one of the most exciting days of our lives.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

As far as we are concerned we've been mis-sold our property, its a total disgrace. We were only told on the day of completion that the developer had gone bust. The retail outlets and communal gardens are nowhere to be seen, and we have have had no notification on whether the development is ever likely to be finished. A disgraceful way to treat your tenants / shared ownership buyers.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the developer had gone bust and we would be living on half finished building site. We've been mis-sold and would have pulled out. This fact might even have affected the value of the property so we are going to speak to Citizen Advice and our mortgage provider. Also the fact that on the day of completion NO INFORMATION whatsoever was provided about the property. No instructions, no handbook, no nothing, an absolute disgrace. We paid £20k extra for a car parking space and the person who gave us our keys didn't even know where the car park was, nevermind where our space was. Oh, and the key fobs provided didn't work on the doors to access the car park.

What is the best feature of your home:

The property definitely seems to be very efficient and economical.

Great development in great location.

Good points: Great design particularly in relation to heat and energy. On site consierge and security gives a very good sense of safety. Difficult to give negatives as the development is not fully completed. Wait to see what the finished development will look like with retail units occupied and common areas completed.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Good points: Dedicated parking. Aldi and B&Q next door. Refuse facility on site. Design cuts out traffic noise. No evidence of anti social behaviour so far. Negatives: Heavily populated student area. A lot of protests and late night noise, but soundproof doors and windows cut that out 90%. On very buy mail roadway into Brighton.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A detailed bus timetable would have saved a lot of questions. Perhaps a list of willing residents that would be happy to join a WhatsApp group to give a more community feel initially.

What is the best feature of your home:

The heating and broadband connection could not be better.

The only way we could afford security and so far it's good

The development still needs to be built and we hope this will be completed soon. We are looking forward to the surgery and shops and being able to walk through the development to the Lewes rd. The facilities manager has been very helpful when we have any questions and will always pop by to help

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is quiet and has the full spectrum of humans. Transport links are excellent. You have to get parking permits to park outside your own house

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We would have liked a more thorough tour of how the house worked when we moved in

What is the best feature of your home:

The high spec and attention to detail. It's warm and all the appliances are new
