Very Happy!

My partner and I have just purchased a 2 bed house in Fuller's Grove. We have had a very smooth, easy experience purchasing the house and moving in. Adam, Katie and Godfred have gone above and beyond to support us throughout the whole process and provided an excellent service. The quality and size of the house is very good value for money and we love the house.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

It is a very nice rural area but close to Wantage which is a beautiful, small town with all the shops you need. There is brilliant parking availability as we have 2 parking spaces and there is roadside parking if needed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There was great communication, so we knew what to expect.

What is the best feature of your home:

We love the kitchen space with a large bay window, making it feel very bright and open. We also love our garden which is a lot bigger than we expected.

The development is well designed

The development is well designed, however Crest Nicholson have pushed for and achieved several replans, all of which have increased density and degraded the attractiveness of the site. Parking is well catered for with many properties benefiting from good size off road parking with additional visitor spaces available.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Fullers Grove is situated in East Challow within walking distance of the lovely market town Wantage. The facilities in East Challow are limited for the growing population but Wantage is only a short distance offering a good range of pubs, restaurants and shops. The development sits close to the Letcombes and the Ridgeway offering fantastic countryside and walks from your doorstep

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

If I did it again I would instruct a professional snagging company.

What is the best feature of your home:

Good overall design making the most of the space both indoors and out.

I haven’t had any issues with my property since moving in, so haven’t been in contact with any management. So all I can say is how lovely my house is and my area. The layout is fairly open which I like. Lovely size garden and overall very pleased I was lucky enough to come across this house for myself and my little one.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The village could benefit from a local shop being built. saying that we are only a 5 minute drive away from town which has all the shops you would need to get your basic essentials. Parking is really good in my area, bins have always been collected on time or atleast the next day. Seen as we are quite close to the main road I would say I barely hear any traffic, maybe on the odd occasion. Buses do come through the village but as I don’t use them I wouldn’t know much about them for none drivers but I’m sure timetables can be found on the internet. Local school and park close by too with a massive field to play sports.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I’d got to see how lovely it was before moving in then I could of stopped overthinking.

What is the best feature of your home:

I love everything about my house. It’s got so many cupboards for storage. Thinking of turning the storage cupboard in the kitchen into a pantry type room.

The layout and design of the houses were the reason we bought the house.

The layout and design of the houses were the reason we bought the house. The communal spaces are bright, airy and much larger than competitors. The communal ‘green’ areas are well kept. There are plans for a park which again we were influenced by as we have a small child, this is not yet built, so I can’t comment on it. Building and property management are great in the initial care period whilst on site, but a lot slower after that at dealing with issues.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The village itself is beautiful & it is a 25 minute walk into wantage where there are plenty of shops, pubs & restaurants. Unfortunately the village itself no longer has a pub or shop, so it does mean a drive if you need to pop out for bread or milk! Parking is ample but the estate itself is not yet finished so this could change. Bin collections are as planned with the exception of the brown bin that often gets missed. The real let down is the traffic noise in the estate - as they haven’t finished the raised parts of the road to prevent this, the speeds and noises of the various loud exhausted cars in the estate really are disappointing.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How long the estate would be being built for. We have lived here 18 months now and still have the noise of roadsweepers and builders constantly.

What is the best feature of your home:

Large, open family kitchen. Also the wide entrance hall and generous downstairs cloakroom.

Absolutely shocking!

Where do I start? Fortunately for us, we rent the property from our local authority. If I had purchased the property privately, I would be extremely disappointed with my investment. Our problems started as soon as we turned the key in the door and entered our home for the first time. Our front door was, and still is letting in a breeze. During heavy rain spells, water sometimes comes through the gap between the frame and the door. Daylight is visible halfway up the door past the door handle. Our boiler blew on our first day, leaving us with no heating or hot water for 4 days. An engineer came out to fix it and told us that the boiler was highlighted as being installed incorrectly 4 months prior to us moving in. A hole was cut into our ceiling to fix the problem, and was left unfinished for around 6 weeks. The drain pipe at the rear of the house was left unfinished and not connected into the ground causing the patio to flood when it rained. The extractor fan in the kitchen was hanging off the ceiling. The ceiling light in the kitchen had blown bulbs and was bent out of shape because it wasn’t installed correctly. The extractor switch to our downstairs toilet was hanging off and not screwed in place. We had the smell of sewage coming from our downstairs toilet, and even had newts coming in. The waste pipe was cracked due to poor installation of the skirting around the toilet. The toilet constantly backs up and needs unblocking. According to someone on site, the cause is due to “too many bends in the waste pipe “. We were also told to flush twice when using the toilet, or only use it for number 1’s and not number 2’s. The light fitting in what we call our pantry was not working, so I fitted my own light in there. The handles on the patio doors were damaged and had paint missing on them. Working our way upstairs, the newel cap on the banister was left unpainted and not secured on. The bathroom door had a piece missing from the top corner and saw marks on it. The flooring in the bathroom had chunks missing due to poor installation. Parts of the skirting were also damaged and had knife cuts in places. The light switch in the back bedroom was hanging off the wall. A mains socket in the back bedroom was left unfinished and had plaster missing in places. All of the above made complete sense when someone who worked on the development said, “I remember this house, this is the one that we used as a donor house to fix faults in other builds on site”. The fact that the development has had 12-14 site managers sums it up really!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area is fantastic. We’re far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but we’re close enough when we need to go there. Our village needs a shop desperately. The estate that we live on does need an area for children to play as there is only one park in the village. As for living in our street, it’s good to be fair. As you’d expect on any estate, there’s the odd few that you wish were living elsewhere.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We weren’t allowed to view the home in the first place due to Covid. Had we had done some research on other peoples experiences with living in a Crest Nicholson home, we quite possibly would have opted to live somewhere else in the area.

What is the best feature of your home:

The improvements we have made ourselves inside the home and in the garden.
