Esteem is a new development of five bedroom homes in Dishforth, North Yorkshire. Dishforth is a peaceful village within easy reach of the A1M. The village itself has two pubs, a primary school and a Post Office.

Beautifully designed house, great location shame about the workmanship

Lovely designed family homes, plenty of space between properties and feels like individually designed homes rather than mass built. Quality fixtures and fittings but sadly poor and rushed workmanship let’s the overall finish down. Footpath to village and school is not yet completed meaning development is isolated from the rest of the village and requires residents to walk along grass verge which is dangerous with children.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

A rural village with great access to the A1. Located between Ripon, Boroughbridge and Thirsk so lots of access to shops and facilities if you can drive. Very few amenities within walking distance. Reasonable bus service. Lots of parking available but long single car width driveways encourage parking on the road.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Streetlights and footpath into village not completed by the winter.

What is the best feature of your home:

Large window in hallway and galleried landing lets in lots of natural light,

The buying process could not have been better. Olivia Lefevre was amazing and went above and beyond what we expected. We looked at the Newett development nearby but Olivia won it for us and we would not be in our house without her, an absolute credit to Strata. The on-site aftersales was a shambles. Trying to contact people who were always, constantly “on a course”. Again I had to go to Olivia to get updates. Random workman show up at the house to resolve snags with no notice they were coming, or had come to the wrong house. There wasn’t many snags at all, 99% of the problems were (and are) plumbing related and our neighbours are the same. But I think Strata have changed contractor as a result. After 8 weeks you move to off site aftersales and 2 years, and James has been great.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The village of Dishforth has a few local pubs but shops etc are driving distance to boroughbridge or Ripon. Hopefully with the new houses there will be more amenities in the village. Very quiet on the estate and no issues at all. Neighbours are lovely and everyone local on the Dishforth Facebook group helps eachother.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Report any snag, no matter how small and don’t expect the house to be perfect. Things change as the house settles too. Keep a list/record of all outstanding.

What is the best feature of your home:

The Cologne and Strata development won it for me due to the high ceilings and attention to detail on the finishing. It’s a high quality property, with big rooms and any imperfections have since been rectified.

Wonderful place to live

A very modern and spacious estate with little traffic noise and no issues with antisocial behaviour. Other residents are very polite and it is an estate of dog lovers. Any issues we have had have been dealt with swiftly and have not needed re-sorting afterwards.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living on our estate is so peaceful. Traffic noise is very low. 2 pubs within 5 mins, one serves food. Closest shop is 15 min drive and there is a bus to ripon and Northallerton, however it is very few and far between. Regular bin collection and parking is not an issue

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The only thing we wish we had known before moving in was the lack of path to the village, however I believe this will soon be added

What is the best feature of your home:

Storage space is a key benefit to our house and plenty of room for guests.

Design is good, open plan good size, enclosed Garden and shed. 2 parking sparces. Estate is nicely set out, Only negative is awaiting on roads finishing. Property management being housing association are easy to contact if issues arise. Design of houses is lovely.

2 pubs, propositions of a shop opening. Locality for getting anywhere in car North and south. Being so close to motorway but traffic noise minimum. Friendliness of people very welcoming.

Great community spirit and communication of support.

What is the best feature of your home:

Size and layout of property is fantastic, The location is great for access to anywhere.

Love the kitchen and bathroom! Not the horrible white tiles you normally get. The space in the house is brilliant. Separate utility, downstairs toilet and really big bedrooms. Lovely white walls, not like the standard magnolia you normally get. The work men currently finishing the development are professional and very friendly. Bonus is they are building a car park and entrance for my children's school near the development.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living on this street is amazing. I came from a horrible place before here and i hated it! I spent years hating where i lived due to my next door constantly making it difficult for me so when i moved to the development Esteem my life has been so much better! I get on with everyone, we all talk to each other and I've never been happier! The only bad aspect is the closest supermarket is in Thirsk or Boroughbridge. Everything else is spot on and i cannot fault it.

Nothing. Everyone is so friendly and its amazing living here. A great place for kids to grow up.

What is the best feature of your home:

The garden!! Absolutely huge and my kids love it. Faces away from everyone.
