Perfect family living

Dykes of Gray is a lovely semi-rural development less than 10mins by car into the centre of Dundee. It is very much a community with neighbours supporting one another through the development facebook group. Thought about moving to be closer to work but decided against it as what I have here is perfect.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Very well stocked Spar which is so handy, hotel less than 10mins walk which has bar and good quality food. Lots of open spaces, 3 parks for kids plus football pitch. Now that bus service is in place links to town are even easier

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Make sure you sign up to facebook page to keep abreast of what is going on

What is the best feature of your home:

Beautifully high quality homes, with ability to customise to your own taste

Beautiful development

Beautiful development - lovely green areas, parks and shop. Lay out of development makes it unsual and doesnt feel like you are in a huge development. Very much a feeling of community. Facilities management contacts are easy to get hold of and deal with any issues promptly.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Fantastic local shop which does a lot for the community as a whole. Closed facebook groups make it a great community where we can share concerns/ask questions/seek out local contractors etc

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Use the facebook closed groups to find out local trades in the development

What is the best feature of your home:

The fact that I was able to design my kitchen, all my tiling, my wall colours.

Sales process was very straightforward and friendly staff

Sales process was very straightforward and friendly staff. Easy to make design choices and lots to see in the show homes. The homes are well-built with good communication at the beginning to resolve any issues. Design is clean, with plenty of green areas. Local shop is well-stocked and very friendly.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Convenient location, but you would need to own a car due to a lack of safe walking routes and public transport. The residents group are putting in a lot of effort with the city council to get this resolved.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Very quiet on the estate, even with lots of kids and increasing traffic.

What is the best feature of your home:

Convenient location: next to main links to Perth and Aberdeen, but also near parks, woods and countryside.

A quiet and pleasant countryside estate

Basically well designed and to a good finish but the kitchen is lacking a bit of kitchen storage for a three bedroomed house. Management of the public areas of the estate are carried out by subsidiary of Springfield and the contractors used carry out maintenance to an average standard.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

A quiet neighbourhood where parking is not a problem. It is served by a small local shop and there are mainstream supermarkets within a couple of miles. The development is not currently served by a bus service and I think this would be a benefit. It is possible to walk approximately 1.5 miles to a bus stop but this is on unlit country roads with little or no footpaths.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

No show house available to view for the property purchased.

What is the best feature of your home:

Well designed layout for a compact house. Decent sized lounge with a good layout. Also the is an En Suite shower room to the master bedroom.

I love living here. Great for my kids who are safe to go out and play with lovely kids. Nice people. Western Gateway committee excellent sense of community. Country walks near by. It is genuinely fantastic!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

No bus service which would be handy for teenager and nipping into town. Especially with kids getting free travel. one of the retail units is still empty i though a hairdresser might have moved in.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

when bus service would be provided

What is the best feature of your home:

I like the size of my home and garden. My street isnt uniform and feels really private.
