Good development but …

In general the development is well created with a walking distance to the village center, there is also a small green area great for kids or pets to walk around and always well maintained. A few downside points such as : quality of the finish touches within the houses that would require a significant improvement (e.g. quality of the paint, doors, several cracks starting to show) Also if you request any minimum changes ( even before the house is built) it charged a huge amount of money. The front garden is done under a great amount of construction waste instead of using a good quality top soil.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great area to live with a very strong sense of community, excellent connections very near to A52 and A16. In the village there are schools for different levels. A variety of local shops around the corner, the only thing that is missing is a medical centre ( nearest one is in Gosberton) and dentist.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We were one of the fist people to move into this area of the development when they still continue to work around, maybe it was better yo wait until most of the houses were finished since the noise, traffic and muddy boots were a little too much.

What is the best feature of your home:

Location and allowing people to choose that ( depending of availability)

Ok property shame about the neighbours!

The property management of the green field is ok, though it is expensive and there has been several occasions when dog poo has not been picked up by dog owners. I like the design of my property, I am semi detached with a garage, however I was disappointed that my garage had different coloured roof tiles to my property

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

It is a short walk to the village centre where you can access takeaways, local shops and a post office. You can also catch a bus to the local town. However, several properties were sold to the council, which wasn’t part of the original plans. As a consequence I have been a victim of antisocial behaviour that was so bad I’ve needed to call the police. Also the road is not very wide and people park all over the road.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had been made aware of how many council houses there would be. There ended up being many more than originally planned when I bought my property and I wouldn’t have bought it.

What is the best feature of your home:

I like that I overlook a green space, and the house has a good sized garden

Love our first home ❤️

Ashwoods have solved anything we needed near enough straight away. We had an issue with our fridge door, and they took our issue and got it sorted quickly and efficiently. Stairs were cracking but that was expected due to it being a new build property, and they came and sorted it staright away

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Lovely area to live in, everything is so smooth, big garden for a 2 bed property and if we move hopefully it will be with Ashwood again

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing at all really, only thing we wished we had was a utility cupboard for big appliances but it’s not the end of the world as we came up with a solution

What is the best feature of your home:

We love how spacious our rooms are and especially the garden

A typical new build housing estate

Ricky M (Shared Owner)

The development lay out is typical of that of a new build housing estate. The communal lawn area is well kept however this took months and months to be complete. Other than that the development doesn’t really offer much in the way of communal spaces, no playing area etc. in our personal experience the house hasn’t been built to the highest standards and we have had a range of complaints including some repairs carried out by ashwood employees. The estate is quiet in the mornings and traffic is low.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Donington is an ideal location for young families, there are 2 convenience stores, 4 local takeaways and 2 schools in the village alone. Two bus routes to Spalding and Boston mean public transport is easily accessible too. Our development is next to the local skate park, which during the summer can cause issues with noise late at night and antisocial behaviour including drug use. Parking is easy and plentiful. Bin collections are always on time and ran well.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We wish we would have known just “cost effective” the house had been built. It seems like some expense was spared in a lot of areas of the home.

What is the best feature of your home:

The house is very reasonably priced to run, gas and electricity rates are low.

Great villages and good houses.

The buildings are finished to a high quality but the gardens are given no such quality. Ours was left full of rubble and this had been the same for many others. There are a variety of house styles and sizes. The main living areas and kitchens are all a good size but the bedrooms are a tad on the small size.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The village is quiet but with facilities such as Fish and Chip shops, an amazing butchers, several stores, hairdressers and a thriving community of events. The traffic is low unless their are road works. The bin collection is weekly and is bags, with no limit from our experience. The village had a primary and secondary school, as well as nursery.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Stacked parking is a nightmare and the garden, although large, was not finished to even a minimal quality.

What is the best feature of your home:

The house feels bigger than it is, with lots of natural light and neutral colours.
