Nice place to live

The property is well designed although more storage space would have been nice. Good size garden and had it turfed front and back. All bedrooms have ample space to add fitted wardrobes in the future if we wish. Lots of green space round the property so excellent for dog owners

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

East Calder is an old traditional village on the growth. Lots of local parks and plenty of open spaces to walk the dogs

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It can be very windy in the development. I am constantly picking the bins up after they have blown around the garden. This is noones fault, just nature at its best

What is the best feature of your home:

I really love the open plan layout of the ground floor

A Great Place to call home

The design of the development is good, but can be better if they utilise some space as well-kept green area, outdoor/playing grounds for children. Facilities are not well managed and would like to see improvement in this area. In summation, it is a great place to live and would be the best place to live in, if some few things are put in place.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The environment is beautiful and picturesque. Its proximity to local shops is good, but does not have a variety of local shops. Its proximity to high street store is excellent because we are just 15 minutes drive to Livingston retail outlet where there are many stores. Availability of transport link is splendid, and the buses are very frequent. It is also close by to train stations. Living on our street is pleasant, there is parking availability, bins are regularly collected, and being a new area, we have not really noticed anti-social behaviours, we hope it stays that way. It is a quiet environment with lovely people living in it.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew about snags that I should look out for before moving in to the building. I also wish I knew about their poor customer service.

What is the best feature of your home:

The building is very spacious, and the utility room is thoughtfully designed.

Great place to live

House builder bellways haven't been the best they haven't maintained their contact with us in regards to our snagging lists so that's not been great. The school design is fantastic it's an amazing school. The design of the area is great the 2 parks are perfect and the kids love them. All we need now are some other facilities like shops maby another cafe coffee shop. We don't seem to have any post boxes As of yet that would be great to save going upto main Street.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I love our new area, new school /nursery in walking distance, cafe which offers home delivery. Nice places to go for a walk (Only negative is with the house builder also the grounds work ) the area itself is great but they haven't kept up with the appearance aspect, as in the factor fees we pay for making the grounds/trees neat and tidy there has been no or little upkeep. Looking forward to new things to come in the area, shop etc would be great. Also the new bus route which runs straight through calderwood is great.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Lack of storage which we hadn't really noticed

What is the best feature of your home:

The best thing about our house is we are south facing so get a lot of sun and light through our back garden. Also we don't have any other houses that look into our garden as we have a field behind us.

Nice place to live but needs more work from developer

Calderwood was and is a lovely place to stay having been one of the first five houses here back in 2014. I have seen so many changes but factoring is a real issue streets look tired and not looked after: even being in a new street the mono blocking and plants are poor and begin the house rubbish and dog poo all over the path. Feel like there needs to be a real push on this and also the speed of vehicles behind our house (main road to the school). Pedestrian crossings to the school always required.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I have lived in this development for over 7 years and have moved to the ‘newer side’ we back onto a road and the traffic noise is pretty bad from lorries and busses and cars just driving way too fast. Really disappointed flats are going infront of the beautiful new school surely should have gone behind it. Also more shops etc should have been made available before now due to the size of the development.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How many issues we would have with hearing back from after care.

What is the best feature of your home:

We love our kitchen dining area such a family area to spend time together socialising.

Lovely location, terrible service after completion

Building is well designed however the management of snagging and build quality has been appalling. Been living here for almost a year and barely any snags have been corrected, with nothing done in 9 months. A constant change in staff means it’s hard to keep track of who we need to contact and nothing is getting fixed.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Plenty of open spaces nearby, good bus service to Edinburgh/Livingston, near to train station and airport. Very little traffic noise or anti-social behaviour.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The builders are terrible with fixing snags. Neighbours however are all lovely!

What is the best feature of your home:

We have a lovely big garden, the 4 bedrooms are all a decent size.
