Great location but expensive

The staff is very friendly and the location is great. But for the entirety of my tenancy most of the washer dryers were broken and it’s very noisy with the football field across. I worked from home so I asked if it was quiet here and was told it was. It is very noisy in fact.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The Area is great. Supermarkets, gym, park, pharmacy and tube. All within a 10 minute walk. Very good location

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The initial reaction is always “you must be doing something wrong”. Eventually they realise not everything is user error and they fix it

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Noise. On the viewing they told me it was very quiet. My flat faces a football field that is always being used.

Uncle Stockwell - Clear positives largely outweigh issues

There’s a great variety of building amenities that I actively use, such as the gym, the study area, the bike store & the package collection service. Things are kept clean and tidy consistently & the building staff such as Duncan & Paul are absolutely fantastic. Have pretty much no faults with the building offering. The rooms are pretty standard and are mostly recommended for single living as there’s not tons of space unless you can afford more expensive room sizes. You can get some pretty nice views from all sides of the building too. Much like in any private rented apartment block, you can have loud neighbours who make noise outside of reasonable hours, but having a civil chat about it can mostly resolve the problem.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The building is in a great location, easy access to buses and tubes that take you straight to central. Even better if you have a bike. Supermarkets super close by & nice green spaces such as Battersea park. There is quite a bit of noise generated from the public space outside the property and sometimes this can run longer than the 9pm close time for these public spaces. Safety at late night outside the building’s ground is a concern but I imagine this is a given in a lot of central London-ish areas. I’d recommend keeping your wits about you nonetheless.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The building managers during my tenure at Uncle Stockwell have been nothing short of superb at helping to resolve issues I’ve had.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The noise from outside the building is mostly unavoidable, so you should decide whether this is something you can deal with & ignore/drown out. The football court will be used consistently any time from 8am through to 10pm, while users may linger beyond that latter time. This is most problematic if you’re facing the pitch on a lower level.

I'm in Stockwell and have been for years. I love it: there's a proper mix here of all kinds of people and it attracts good, down-to-earth, friendly sorts. Transport links: the best. When you're in the middle of London and you've suddenly had enough, you know you can be home with a cup of tea in 15 minutes because the tube links here are so good. Both Vauxhall (National Rail) and Clapham High St (Overground) are 10 mins' walk or one tube stop away. Supermarkets etc: loads. Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Lidl for most things you need. If you need to do a massive shop, Clapham has a huge Sainsbury's and Nine Elms has an even bigger one and a massive Waitrose, all with parking. Local shops: mostly small groceries, a new ice cream bar; Portuguese tapas cafes, practical DIY shops. Brixton and Clapham are walkable and have all the stuff you need that you can't get on the doorstep.

The only thing I wish I lived closer to is green open space: Clapham Common isn't far but it isn't quite near enough, either.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They responding and acting as quick as possible...

Really friendly estate, where people smile and say hello once they recognise you.

Good choice in terms of internal environment, but you need be to aware of the loud noise of the football court outside.

Design- I love the furniture style, it is very Morden and simple, fit very well with young professional vibe, which are most of the renters in the building. Facilities- it has a very small gym, it’s not very advanced but good enough for daily normal workout routine.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Good- the property is well managed by the building management team, I love how kind they are and always here to support with your issues. Bad- the location of Uncle Stockwell is really not ideal. The noise outside drives me crazy.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The building maintained and management team is very good and friendly. Highly recommend.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I can understand how loud it is outside the building, the football people are always in the field, in summer they leaves around 10pm everyday.
