The Wrong House

The design is ok, when we brought the home we could only go by blueprint. When we arrived in the home the blueprint had changed. Meaning we had to put up with what we brought rather than what we thought we were getting. Though this is common with most places conning the people.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

One local shop within 10 minutes walking distance (OneStop). Also there is a butchers in a 15 minute walking distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the house plans changed before we purchased.

What is the best feature of your home:

The garden as we dug up what persimmon had done and made it anew.

Again a terrible, the design inside the home was wrong the stairs in the lounge is supposed to be sloped as according to the blueprints. However it was boxed and again Persimmon refused to correct the mistake as this would be too much for the workers on site. They advised to get a quote from a plasterer.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Currently no vicinities for these, parking is abysmal. The driveways had been designed wrong our cars parked on the driveway out side the left hand side neighbours , our right hand side neighbours drive way is out the front of our house. Considering next door have a commercial van which states in the contract that no commercial vehicular should be park on driveways, this has blocked out the view from our front window for 4 years. When we brought it to Persimmon they advised they do not wish to get involved with a neighbourly dispute.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the contractors and workers they use were users of recreationals , I knew a lot of them from School who partook in this at school and I would assume they are still doing this. As by appearance not much teeth and baggy stones eyes.

What is the best feature of your home:

Probably the astroturfing that we put down of the trashed garden it was in when we moved in. The grass turf was not sealed in correctly and the fencing was not fully touching the ground meaning next door neighbours dogs could get through the gap.

Nice and quiet

The design of the houses are ok, nothing ground breaking but to be honest they won’t date too badly so I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. The builders were hood when we had a few snags and dealt with them well, and seem to have been built to a good quality.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Nice and quiet in our little cup de sac however parking can be at a premium at times- this is mostly due to the families here having more than average amount of cars.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We wish we had been able to see how many other properties would overlook us but these weren’t built!

What is the best feature of your home:

Best feature of our home is probably the space upstairs, it’s a fantastic layout that we will struggle to match without buying a much larger property.

Some good, some bad!

Design of the estate itself is ok although there are a lot of houses crammed in (as there are with all estates in fairness), it doesn't feel too bad. Lack of street parking is disappointing and makes it hard for visitors. Overall despite this the houses themselves look good even if build quality is somewhat questionable.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Location is good overall. Close to the shops, oulton marshes and the beach. Parking on the estate is a pain with very little street parking for visitors. There has been issues with crime, mainly vehicle break ins and thefts.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How bad the build quality is. Brickwork on our garage is not straight, paint was thrown on in what looks like minutes and just a lack of care taken or pride in anything it seems.

What is the best feature of your home:

The garden. Good size allowing the kids to have a big trampoline and there still be adequate space.

We like our house but wouldn’t do this again

I like our development, but we are having major issues with crime, cars being broken into or stolen multiple times a week. There are parts of our estate that have streetlights but they’re not connected yet. A lot of residents have mentioned that they were meant to be switched on a while ago but still haven’t. Perhaps this would help discourage some of the unwanted crime. My house personally, the brickwork is awful, it isn’t obvious immediately but when the light hits it there is shadows created by every single bring because they’re all so wonky! We did a walk round before we moved in and picked up lots of things for them to fix before we got the keys. Most of the things weren’t done, including no plug in our downstairs loo, when i told them about it they said they would fit it, instead they posted the plug through my door and ran off without knocking while I was in my house and I had to attach it myself. There is uneven ground in my hallway where the concrete isn’t flat and we were told they couldn’t do anything about it. After living here for just over 2 years we got birds living in our loft. After some investigation we realised that the builders had left bricks off under every corner of our roof and it had been open to the elements for over 2 years! To be fair to persimmon they fixed it within 2 weeks, I had to push a lot to get it done as they tried to say it was as a big job for them as they had to hire scaffolding but when I pushed they did sort it.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Everything to do with the local area that was already here is good, apart from the fact that there is lots of new housing going up but no dentists spots at all anywhere local, and doctors surgeries are already overrun. We were supposed to be getting a surgery on our estate and there is one earmarked but we have had no news or updates and we’ve been here 5.5 years now. Living on our street is ok. We don’t have trouble with the neighbours and part of our street is housing association run. But they’re all well managed and have nice families in. Most households have at least 2 cars and some have 3. The entire street is terraced apart from ours and one other which are detached. All the terraced houses have 2 parking spaces out the front of their house, my house and the other detached house have a drive down the side. There are no spare visitors parking spaces and the only on road parking is directly in front of my house and the house opposite. So for our entire street there is only 2 on road parking spaces. So it’s usually the case that if just 2 of the houses on our street get a visitor then that’s it, anyone else has to park absolutely miles away. I get that you have to cram them all in to make as much money as possible but it’s still hard living with it.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had felt like and known I could push for every little fault. I felt like I was causing a problem, now I wish I had made more of a fuss.

What is the best feature of your home:

That it’s new and we got quite a big garden in comparison to others.
