Very happy in my Story Home

I love my house, it is well built and has settled down well with no major issues. There have of course been issues but these have all been rectified by Story Homes pretty quickly. The only issue is the quality of the carpets that they sell. The pile of which had flattened in under a year, I chose the more expensive ones as I thought they would last longer, but they did not, I was advised it was normal wear and tear. I live by myself and they have had light use over the two years I have had the house and whilst they are OK, I would say they are over priced and not the best quality. There laminate flooring has lasted well. The house design is great, it is a very sociable house downstairs with a. large open plan room and a sitting room. Upstairs is more traditional with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The en-suite could be a bit larger though! I would happily buy another one

Very close to the Arnison Centre and the quieter shops on Newton Hall. You really need a car to live here as the closest transport is at the Arnison Centre. It is a fantastic quiet estate where everyone seems happy and settled. There are no major issues. Parking is good with plenty of visitor bays and large driveways.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The carpet quality, I would not buy from Story again!

What is the best feature of your home:

The open plan family living, dining kitchen space with bifold doors onto the patio

Superb Story

The quality of housing built by Story Homes is very high and the same level of consideration has been given to the design of the estate. Parking, spacing and variety have all been considered and help make the estate very pleasant. Estate management keeps the whole place tidy and smart with their monthly visits.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Proximity to the Arnison Centre is a huge positive. The area is quiet and family friendly and has good quality pubs nearby. Road links to Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland are easily accessible too.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Private drives have their own bin collection point at the end of the street as bin lorries are not allowed down the street itself.

What is the best feature of your home:

The high quality internal finishes in the kitchen.

The development itself is undoubtedly a high quality one. The finish on the homes was consistently better than any other company we saw when looking at houses. Any issues we have had regarding snagging have been dealt with in a timely manner. The overall look of the estate now it is progressing is very appealing.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The development is located near the east coast main train line but, despite initial concerns, this does not make it at all noisy - the trains are hardly noticeable at all. The location is ideal for accessing the Arnison centre and other local amenities. The street feels quiet and secure.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The estate feels out of the way and quiet but is very close to surrounding shops and other housing estates. Local pub is good too.

What is the best feature of your home:

The finish around the home is excellent, the kitchen is particularly nicely done.

A nice pleasant place to live

I really like the way the houses are all a bit individual, the different colours of bricks make the house look different even though there are about 10 designs nobody looks the same, there is quite a bit of green space round the estate and the houses don’t feel too squashed up. The gardens are of decent sizes and the houses well built and finished.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

There are no on site facilities but the Arnison Centre is just round the corner, train station is about 8 minutes away, it is dead easy to get to the A1. It is a lovely quiet place to live

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I really wish that I had learnt a bit more about how the appliances, heating and alarm work. There is a lot to take in at the time. It would also be good to have found out more about what the patio slabs are as I want a bigger patio

What is the best feature of your home:

I like the family room best, I use it all the time for eating, relaxing and cooking. It is a really sociable room that is very versatile
