Brilliant area, very local to all essentials. Parking is brilliant although drive is slightly narrow ( cannot fit my bins on the drive ) very quite, well lit up friendly area. No traffic noise short walk from a school.

Yes if any problems have arise they have been sorted very quickly

Jelson houses are great until you move in

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Nice village the pubs are really nice and parking is good. No traffic noise or anti social behaviour where we are on the estate. Bin collections are good however other residents pile up bins on the end of their drive which makes the area look horrible.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They try to ignore you or avoid answering your questions

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That Jelson’s were not going to be very helpful

Good House in a Good Area!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is great! Plenty of character in Barrow Upon Soar, beautiful pubs and bars with great views of the canals also some great restaurants with the local Greek and great for activities such as kayaking, bike riding, walking etc … There is nearby train station and bus stop to the housing area and also have town library, church and some fantastic schools.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Jelson’s have responded professionally and quickly when we had early problems with the property, however I feel the after care could be more attentive and transparent.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How long it would take to fix the roads.

Nice houses but estate is a mess

Katie (Owner)

Aug 2021

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Barrow upon Soar is a lovely village to live in, great locations right next to the countryside with some great walks and parks for the children. The estate is very friendly and there is a real sense of community on our street, all the neighbours talk to one another, even just a wave hello. Very limited issues with the apartment building at the top of the road with what appears to be police visits every known again but overall a lovely location and friendly estate. The road needs some traffic management as people do drive too fast through the estate and there are a lot of young children here.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Ok when we first moved in but just kept asking us to email after that and no response received. Sadly would not buy Jelsons again.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Be very picky with the snagging list and insist that everything is done before hand over. Also, check when you move in that your garden is done to standard as ours wasn't and was told we had been in over 2 years so they couldn't do anything when we complained.

The houses all look lovely from the outside, I love the street names and the layout of the roads.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Our street is very quiet, the only sound that can be heard is the occasional dog barking. Parking is fantastic, it's next to our garden gate and we have two private spaces. Bin collections are also great, we have wheelie bin collections, recycling one week, black bin the next. There is also an option for garden waste. It's easy to get your bin out of the garden and into the carpark where it is collected. Everyone is lovely on the development and we don't hear much traffic. There are a lots of lovely open spaces nearby. At the top of the development is fields and there is also the Millennium Park. The Village also has great walks along the canal and across to the village of Quorn. Both villages have great pubs, lots that also do great food. There are also some good takeaways. The nearest shop to the development is Millie's Cafe and Farm Shop. This is handy for veg and to pop in for a cake. The rest of the shops are on the High Street, unfortunately we do not have a post office at the moment but Hermes parcels can be sent anf recieved from the co-op. There is a train station that is nearby and is really handy for visiting Leicester and Nottingham. There is a bus stop a 5 minute walk from the development, the buses are scheduled every 30 minutes, however they can sometimes be unreliable. There is a village magazine and charity for the Village, events are organised throughout the year. Recently we've had a scarecrow festival and a Halloween trail. There is also a primary and secondary school.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The issues that we had were put on the snag list which was sent about 6 months after we moved in. These problems were fixed about 2 months later.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Some of our neighbours paid for additional items such as outside taps, outside lights and doorbells. We didn't realise that we could have done this. If we had known we would have been interested in adding them.
