Great development, ok-ish location

The development is mixture of homes (the majority of the area) and small apartment blocks, around 12 flats per building. The area has lots of green spaces and access routes. As an energy engineer I was over the moon to see ground-source heat pumps used throughout the development.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is not the greatest in Bristol but way better than expected (after reasearching the area extensively I was expecting the worse. Glad that sometimes people overreact). I have lived in my new apartment for 4 months already and its a nice, quite place to live.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Did my research before buying, knew pretty much all important things.

What is the best feature of your home:

The hot water & heating system. Great daylight system design as per the latest standards - full height windows.

Dangerous - avoid (even if the prices are reasonable)

Unfortunately, we are beginning to hugely regret our decision to purchase a flat in this development. What was supposed to be a fresh start in a new build has turned into a nightmare, with troublesome teenagers smashing bottles in front of cars, kids screaming until late at night and a very serious threat of crime. There have been many residents in the development now that have either been victims of or have witnessed crimes, including theft and property damage. We were not aware of the social housing within the development when we purchased, which should've been made clear to us. It is unlikely that we would've gone ahead with our purchase had we known this. The social housing tenants have been an absolute nightmare, constantly shouting at each other, starting arguments, using racist words, partying in the streets and are rather intimidating to approach. We've made reports to LiveWest who manage the properties, but nothing has been done.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local supermarket is Morrisons. I went there once and felt genuinely terrified. As a young woman, I absolutely did not feel safe even just walking from my car to the entrance of the shop. There were groups of young men in every corner of the car park, hoods up and staring down anyone who dared to enter. It's clear they cause issues, because that Morrisons had 3 security guards all at the entrance. Transport isn't great, particularly if you're going in the direction of Bath. As for parking, we own a space that is constantly blocked in by other inconsiderate drivers. The development is not designed for people to have two cars which is frustrating and unrealistic, but people that do would have known that before moving. Parking behind other cars is completely unacceptable. The bin store is an absolute tip. No one seems to have any respect for others, and there is constantly rubbish piled up on top of the bins without even bothering to put it inside. We've already had several notices about this from the customer service team. Antisocial behaviour is by far the biggest problem on this site, and is becoming a really serious issue for us. With the shouting, screaming and people perpetuating the statement "stitches get snitches", it's causing me a lot of anxiety.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The amount of social housing in the area and the reputation that Hartcliffe has. We had no idea.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature of our home I suppose is the price. It was very reasonable and it's now becoming clear why.

Nice development, not great location

The development is pleasant with red brick houses. Our place is shielded from busy roads. But though of the same price, it’s closer to the flats in front of us. Three buildings of flats are also of different heights, meaning they block sunlights in different degrees. It’s not something we would have noticed until we moved in. The developer used a kitchen furniture supplier, whose products are of troubles - bad design, incompatible layout, cutting corners that end up with compromised quality. On the other hand, developers have generally been responsive in dealing with many issues since we moved in.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Local parks are nice, good local supermarket. Hardly any local bars or restaurants. Local teenagers can be a nuisance. Hard to get appointment with local GP.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That many places we value locally are to be converted to more residential housing despite a general lack of business investment for independent stores, local produces, and family-friendly facilities.

What is the best feature of your home:

Despite all issues listed above, our home is close to green areas. Daily walks are pleasant if only more funds can be directed to local communities for general maintenance, ie. litter.

Very happy with my home

I think the layout of my house and the design is very good. More spacious and quality than other new builds I’ve seen. The management is also good. They are very responsive. I’m eagerly awaiting the promised green spaces so that the whole area will look a bit more appealing

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area itself is quite bad. It has a big supermarket and that’s about it. Parking and bins are good

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The heating system is very complicated so I wish I had more of a written guide in it. Aspects of it aren’t visible and are therefore locked away to me.

What is the best feature of your home:

Rooms have a good size to them and aren’t pokey. I also really like the ground source heating but the system is complicated and I’ve had conflicting tutorials on using it.

Happy but could be just that bit better

The houses are lovely, well designed and spacious, there are a few finishing issues where things like skirting isn’t level or doesn’t match the frame. All covered in snagging and aftercare but the aftercare service takes months just to get simple things fixed and usually not up to the same standard as when we first moved in

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area has ups and downs, it does have a community feel but you don’t have to go far to find people treating the area badly, lots of fly tipping, general littering and leaving dog mess. The school reports are less than desirable

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I new what it was like to live on a site whilst the building work is still ongoing because it is very dirty and almost impossible to not bring into the house

What is the best feature of your home:

The windows and large and let in so much light, they also heat the house really well when the sun is out
