Far Grange Meadows is a development of 2-5 bedroom homes located near Wistow Lordship on the outskirts of Selby’s historic market town. The development is surrounded by open countryside. These traditionally designed homes are proving popular with families who will benefit from the good selection of schools and colleges and good commuter links to York, Leeds and Hull.

Nice houses in good location let down by developers with no concept of customer care

Disappointed (Owner)

Jan 2023

The houses are well designed without being crammed in as well as looking nice. Unfortunately the outside appearance is not the full story as the general finish ranging from unfinished through to mediocre this along with a truly awful approach by the developers in dealing with snagging issue and an equally terrible customer service regime spoils the nice aspects

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Nice development in quiet part of Selby which has an excellent range of shopping both independent and large chains.Selby also has a train station with direct service to London Also trains to York and Leeds as well as a bus service .most people are considerate and park on their driveways or in allocated spaces, the recycling is regularly collected .

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They use a lot of phrases like we are here for you and just contact us,don't worry we will do it but unfortunately this is talking the talk without walking the walk

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had bought from a good developer so I didn't have to spend my life chasing people to put things right

Development lovely. Aftercare from Harron Home APPALLING. Had to get NHBC involved been waiting since December 2020 for repairs. Harron don’t reply to emails. Once they have your money they don’t care

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Asked lots for resident car park to get lighting & be numbered NO JOY! Reported to Harron & WDH

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Partly, and I’m still chasing for repairs to be done.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How bad the workmanship is in these houses. It is as though the houses have been built by apprentices who have not had their work checked.

Nice house, aftercare could be improved.

The house is lovely and designed well, and I like the house itself very much. There have been a few minor snagging issues but these have taken over a year to get resolved and so aftercare has been disappointing and inconsistent. The development is quite big but is in a good location.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area is great, there is a good range of shops restaurants and transport links are satisfactory, good that there is a direct train to London. Currently the street is a building site and it seems that completion of the site will take longer than originally told. Parking is fine and the street is quiet when builders have gone.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They have responded once or twice when I have escalated problems but it has not always led to problems being fixed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Prepare to use up a lot of time trying to get any snagging issues resolved.

Sits very well in its grounds

Vicky (Owner)

Jan 2022

Build design is pretty, lacking storage however. As we didn't buy from new I have no idea about the build company. Roads are still bumpy and not properly finished, no planting scheme in place in communal areas, no children's play park available and is currently a flood plane.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Ample on drive parking. No p Busses pass nearby. Badly lit walk into town. 25 minute walk to town centre, local co op 15 min walk away. Development taking a long time to finish, very slow progress. No grounds management company at all. Nice location with views of fields.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Haven't raised any and as far as I am aware they have not been appointed yet.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I can't wait to see it finished.

Lacking in after care

Neil Robinson (Owner)

Jan 2022

The design and aesthetics of the houses on the development are very good and the builder should use this as a selling point. Unfortunately the builder have zero care once they have handed the property over and the first 2 weeks of the property being occupied is over

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Site is within walking distance of the centre of Selby which is a positive. In terms of our street, there has not been consideration for where visitors will park. The footpath suddenly stops outside of one property which isn’t ideal when you have a pushchair

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Exceptionally poor. The customer care team that the developer say exists doesn’t. When you do get through to someone they cannot give you an answer and you spent months chasing for updates. As they don’t keep comprehensive record and the staff change you end up with comments of “we have no snagging on your property” and you then have to forward emails all over again and start from scratch My property was somehow signed off with no insulation in the master bedroom. Me and my partner had to move bedrooms as our 3 months daughter was getting so cold during the night. My daughter is now in her own bedroom due to her age and the issue still not resolved

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Not something I wish I’d know as I have had a new build previously but the whole new build industry needs a big reform. Houses are getting signed off that shouldn’t be due to the issues logged when moving in and there is not enough safeguarding for new home buyers from developers who simply get houses up as quickly and cheaply as possible then charge a premium
