The buildings are well planned and spacious.

The buildings are well planned and spacious. The estate is not yet complete so we can’t comment on management yet, water and internet connections are good and fast. COVID has delayed site completion but generally Tilia have been quick to respond to any issues.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great semi-rural location, in the middle of picturesque Teesdale. Our property has views on the iconic Barnard Castle fort.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Generally quickly, there has been unclear guidance with the changeover of Kier to Tilia

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Move in Timescales were very unrealistic, we moved in three months after promised date.

Modern living in market town

The development is well designed with some green open spaces and houses are not crammed in. Bought an Ingleton and pleased with house layout and finish. Small number of snagging issues on completion were rectified quickly and without question. Site managers were very helpful and ensured we were happy with work carried out. Good range of tiles/ kitchen cupboards and worktops/ flooring and happy with quality of these after 6 months.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great location in Startforth, only a 10 minute walk to Barnard Castle where there is a wide range of independent shops and cafés, pubs, dentist, optician, doctors, vets, a monthly farmers market and weekly market etc.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Mike and Andy have been superb in dealing with snagging issues. Nothing is ever a bother and they have been very proactive in getting issues resolved.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Bins are emptied very early, put it out the night before!

Lovely house but there are snags

I cannot fault the design of my property and the estate. For snagging problems you have to make sure you keep on top of everything being corrected. Certain elements in my property were blamed on builders no longer working for the developer instead of just being rectified and in the end I resolved some of these myself as I was left without the use of the bath and shower for a month. The plumber and electrician I have met have been extremely helpful and polite when I have had any issues.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Lovely area to live in with the town centre and amenities just a few minutes away from the estate.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Generally response is quick and problems have been rectified quickly however on occasion I have had to resolve problems myself as I couldn’t wait any longer and got tired of chasing for problems to be fixed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had got the property surveyed rather than just relying on snagging to rectify problems that arise.

Top marks for a great development.

The design of the development was the initial thing that drew me to this location . Good choice of house designs with a range of external finishes & spacious parking facilities (in marked contrast to most other new developments). Close to all local amenities. Excellent sales & construction management team a real bonus .

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Within walking distance of all shops & amenities , well designed homes with good outdoor space & more than ample parking , the Castle Croft is just spot on for my requirements . Quiet streets , nil anti social behaviour & simply a great location in this beautiful part of Teesdale .

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Tilia Homes have responded quickly & efficiently to all queries raised .

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

For anybody moving to the area for the first time , just investigate the joys of the Teesdale area . As good as it gets .

The design isn't the greatest

The design isn't the greatest such as entering your back garden via your livingroom or having to walk the full way round your house to hang your washing out. The main bathroom is rather small for a four bed house.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is lovely with only a few minutes walk into the centre of barnard castle. Parks, schools and nurseries nearby and lovely walks on the doorstep. Views of the castle.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very slow at getting back to customer, taken alot of nagging to get snagging list looked at 18 months in and still not complete. But when complete the workman are very welcoming and do a good job.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

To get a professional snagger to look at the property as we are continuously finding faults
