Great developer that I'd go with again.

The house designs, proximity and proportions are really nice, not over crowded, and have its own unique feel from the neighbouring development. Build quality has been very good with only a few of the expected snags of new builds like cracking plaster and finishing touches. The build was delayed because of Covid and logistic chain shortages, which is understandable, but I feel I had to chase the sales office for updates more than they were forthcoming with them. Otherwise the staff have been great.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Wincanton is a beautiful country high street with good local independant shops. Transport links directly onto the A303 or two mainline stations to London in Templecombe or Castle Cary within 10 minutes.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The time it was going to take to get the roads and landscaping finished.

What is the best feature of your home:

The location on the development and proximity to other homes.

Overall good development, relatively small, fixtures & fittings are good quality compared to other house-builders. Like all new builds you may have snagging issues, the guys on site were great at beginning but sadly customer services are very poor from main Cavanna homes office

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Quiet, no anti social so far, well spaced out for a new development and close to local amenities

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the gardens were not level, no light & power in garage

What is the best feature of your home:

General layout is light & spacious, love the double fronted aspect with bay windows

The look of the house is lovely, a lot nicer than other new builds we had viewed

Building was a little over the scheduled date. We moved in whilst the development was being built and the builders were very considerate. The look of the house is lovely, a lot nicer than other new builds we had viewed. The garden is very small which is a negative and the fact that the turf had been layed on a thin layer of soil and the rest is clay meant that the grass has died as it is water logged. Whilst the sales office was on site and during the buying process Cavanna were really helpful and easy to contact. Since they have left, Reporting problems to the main Cavanna customer service team has been really difficult and frustrating, one year on and there are a number of issues still not resolved.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Location is brilliant, close enough to major road for transport links. The town centre is a short walk away and has a good variety of local shops and pubs. Excellent location of the development that it is next to the park and graveyard, green space and not for future development. Parking for our two bed is good, two off-road spaces. Generally seems to be a nice neighbourhood

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The mould on the walls. We were aware in the new buyers guide that there would be some mould for up to a year whilst the house dries out. I waited over 6 months to put up and photos and nearly a year to paint. We had the doors and windows open as much as we could in the summer and also always kept the vents open all year. Even though the sofa wasn’t pushed right up against the wall it still got mouldy. I had to throw away a lot of Items that had got mouldy under the stairs and we had to buy a dehumidifier to try and reduce the mould. Would also have liked to know about the garden and the clay soil. We would have said not to turf and we would have sorted the soil out before we moved in.

What is the best feature of your home:

The look of the home. Features like the porch make such a difference. The design inside for a small house is very good, lovely to have two bathrooms upstairs. Very good size master bedroom and lovely big windows. The door from the kitchen to the lounge has a window, therefore it makes the light pour in from each side of the house which a lot of visitors have commented on that they like. Off-road parking is a must so that was really helpful having 2 spaces.

The good and the not so good.

The layout of the site is good and takes into account that it is built on heavily sloping terrain. The houses are generally of good quality and well built. Appreciating the problems of covid the site is well behind completion, having been in my property for nearly two years and work still being done. The site has been lacking in cleanliness and health and safety. There were obvious faults with our property that should have been dealt with before we moved in. After care is very hit and miss. Some problems dealt with quickly, we were lucky builders still on site, but other problems taking time or even not resolved.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Wincanton has suffered during the recession but there are some lovely local shops, a couple of excellent pubs and two supermarkets. Lovely park nearby.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Not advised that this was a timber framed building

What is the best feature of your home:

Reasonable sized garden and garage for a new property
