Excellent New Home

Been 1 year in my new home, very minor snagging issues. Only improvements would be more storage space, (loft being usable) and more slabs in garden. Patio area is 6 slabs, just adding a few more rows would have been brilliant.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Where all my family are. Local nature, shops etc very convenient

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

None - very transparent and easy.

What is the best feature of your home:

All rooms are large, not tiny new build box rooms.

I love the design of the house. Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and the main 2 bedrooms are both a really good size. In the bathroom there is a nice big storage cupboard and in the 3rd bedroom a big airing cupboard for more storage. Downstairs both the living room and kitchen are a good size and we also have a downstairs toilet. There are plenty of cupboards in the kitchen. Only negative is how small the garden is.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

There are plenty of local shops, food outlets, a pub, garage, hair dressers, schools and a leisure centre all within walking distance of the development. There is also a train station and bus stops within walking distance. The location is great, we have lovely views over the fields from our house and the area is generally quiet. We don't hear any noise at all from the main road. Everyone on our street has parking so there's not many cars that park on the road. There are some nice walks through the fields that are close by and also a canal.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wish I had been given a bit more info on the ONFL and how it worked so I could have made plans before I moved in to get it sorted.

What is the best feature of your home:

Hard to pick just one but the view from upstairs over the fields is beautiful and the size of the bedrooms are great.

Lovely modern houses all look different unlike many new build estates

Lovely modern houses all look different unlike many new build estates, not much greenery for walks etc but the estate isn’t finished. Received very quick responses when trying to get in touch with anyone on site when we have an issue. Not always clear on who to contact with any ongoing problems.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Local shops within walking distance, not many things to do especially with children. Pubs are all outdated and no local bars. Our road is okay only issue we’re second terraced house and our bins have to be kept in the alley way behind our house which is far too tight and have to walk them round all 3 other houses to get them out. We have to get all the neighbours bins in our garden and put them back to just make the space for ours to get past. Received a letter from Bloor to say we couldn’t keep bins out the front but in designing the very narrow alley they didn’t consider this!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How many extras and additional costs there were to purchasing a new build. We had no idea as it wasn’t made clear during any point in buying process that we’d have to fork out additional thousands for flooring and the garden.

What is the best feature of your home:

The layout for a 2 bed, they have made the most out of the small space and really utilised storage space.

Love our new home

Love the design of the house with the added bit for the downstairs toilet and laundry bit would be great if there were options to add more cupboards to the kitchen as I felt there was not enough but we have added some more ourselves. Wish there was somewhere out front where bins could be stored as there is not enough room for them in gardens or the alley connecting the houses could be slightly fatter without taking away from the garden so it is easier to walk around with the bins in there.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Never thought I would live in a village but you can walk to the pub or local shops even the library and train station are just a short walk away so you can get anywhere you need. There is also a lovely nature reserve and canal walk not far from your doorstep. You have 2 spaces per house or a drive so space for parking. Love our new home and area.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Walls need more expensive wall plugs as it is quite hard for things to stay in the walls

What is the best feature of your home:

It's ours :D Garden is a great size and can do a lot with and the view from our bedroom is lovely

An enjoyable place to live

It is early days on my development as they are still building. The layout is quite attractive as it includes green spaces and planted areas. I will have the village green in front of my home when the development is finished. I am hoping that does not become a night time hangout for young people as currently it is very quiet at night. I believe there is also going to be a child play area which has not been built yet. The on-site teams are all very helpful and supportive.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I moved into my Bloor home in July 2021. It is the first time l have purchased a new home. The location is perfect for work and is close to the city of Wolverhampton. There are both bus and rail links into the city from the village centre. There are a few local shops, including grocery stores, a garage, hairdresser and food outlets. I have noticed my street getting busier as the development progresses however it is very quiet at night. My plot will face the Village Green when the development is finished so l should get a nice view. Currently my house faces the builders yard/store/car park. Bin collections have been good. We all have private parking so very little on-street parking at the moment. I hope that continues. There is a canal close by and lots of opportunity for countryside walks on the doorstep.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Good The house is very efficient in terms of heating . Having gone through the winter l noticed how rarely l had to put the central heating on compared to all other properties l have lived in. Bad The single wall garage gets very damp in the winter and cannot be used for storing anything. I have a lot of camping equipment and had relied on the garage for storage as its quite bulky

What is the best feature of your home:

I love the master bedroom on the second floor. I also enjoy the kitchen/diner area which looks out onto the garden
