I do feel that Persimmon charge over the top for in build variations

The design of the estate makes the most of the location with a lot of the homes looking out into open farmland. The house design suits me at my stage of life, and there is sufficient variety to accommodate all family sizes. As mentioned above I don’t feel Persimmon have made a good job of the road or path design, one side being unnecessarily wide, causing the road in to be very narrow. I feel the management fees are excessive for what is not much work, given there is very little common area on the estate. What attracted me to the estate is the location first and house design second. I do feel that Persimmon charge over the top for in build variations (more plugs, outside tap, PowerPoints, extra lights etc) especially when everything is accessible during the build. They insisted that it was impossible to drop the height of the en suite shower (it had a 10 inch step up into the shower) yet a company came in and installed a floor level tray with no problem?? That was disappointing from Persimmon it definitely felt as though it fell into the “can’t be bothered” category for them.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The development is situated fairly close to local amenities but far enough away to give a feeling of exclusivity. The house design suits where we are in our lives, and so far everything is as we would have hoped. What is disappointing on the estate is the road in and the paths. The road is very narrow and the paths do not seem to have any standard proportions meaning that paths on one side of the road are much wider than on the other. The road could be a lot wider if they had made a standard size path. I would hope that when the final road covering is laid, kerbstones which are broken, or overly tall are replaced. Parking is always problematic on any estate, but so far between visitor bays and driveways (most houses have if possible extended their drive widths) it seems ok. Due to the good location the estate is quiet with very little traffic noise and to date no ASB (although we did have a spate of garage burglaries) bus routes run past the entrance of the estate so are easily accessible.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

If you have an issue like we did with the shower insist it is addressed. I do not believe there is anything which cannot be changed or altered during a house build, especially something as simple as a shower height. We did not ask them to move the house just change a shower, although it felt like we had asked the former!

What is the best feature of your home:

The location is what sold the house for my wife and I. We actually preferred the design of a Bellway home but location of this house outweighed that.

Beautiful house didn't had many issues as for new built we were expecting some small tweaks as we reported to site manager and it was sorted quickly by building site friendly staff. Rooms are spacious, kitchen /dinning room space is generous also. Driveway was quite small but we had it extended. Garden is very reasonable size also Overall we been living here 1 years and we are pleased with it

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great location to live you have both of best parts as of country living as its plenty beautiful walks around lovely woodland, fields even beach that is 10 mins away by car and you have great selection of local pubs, restaurants, big outlet shopping centre also super market. Street is nice and quiet with friendly neighbours, clean and safe.
