It was originally designed with the help of none other than Florence Nightingale. The hospital closed back in 1977 and was set for demolition, but a Grade II listing saved the place and, in 1995, it reopened as a collection of luxury apartments that have been highly sought-after ever since.” HomeViews Property Pro on The Royal Herbert Pavilions Are you a resident at a Parkview Homes development? the gym and pool facilities are amazing, very well designed and well kept by pleasant staff. Although the pool and jacuzzi seem to be closed freuqently for various reasons. The corridors are also very nicely kept and designed. I never acrually got to use the cinema as it was always fully booked but it looks amazing.

The Herbert Hospital in SE London (1865-1977) was initially built with input from Florence Nightingale for injured veterans returning from the Crimean War. Queen Victoria visited in 1900 giving each patient a posy of flowers from her royal gardens, she was so impressed with the hospital she bestowed upon it a Royal title – The Royal Herbert Hospital. The hospital closed in 1977 and for a time become derelict until it was purchased and developed into about 240 modern luxury apartments yet maintaining the traditional grade 2 listed exterior and renamed The Royal Herbert Pavilions. We are so fortunate to live in such a magnificent building set in acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, with a concierge service, plus our own leisure club with residents: Bar, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steam Room, and Tennis Court. We have a wonderful community spirit among residents, a public access website with our secure residents only area. And we have our own private residents Facebook Group.
