Best accommodation in Sheffield

The property managers are the probably the nicest people you’ll meet, shout out to Niamh molly, Alan and malc. Even when they go home in night the security are just as lovely and helpful. The design of the buildings themselves are so lovely and kind of simulate a little village/ private community especially because of the courtyard. It’s nice to see all the dogs there during the day. I’ve lived here for 2 years and just graduated, but part of the reason I decided to stay in Sheffield for the next year for my masters is because I don’t think I’ll find another place to live in the like this again. As soon as I got my offer I was on the phone asking the extend my contract, so glad I’m staying for another year.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Amazing location if you’re attending the university of Sheffield like myself, very local to shops like Tesco and many Asian supermarkets (there’s even one in the building ). across the road a shop has opened with a lovely Turkish man as the owner and they sell EVERYTHING from fresh produce to toiletries. The actual accommodation is a 2min walk from the tram which you can take to Meadowhall or even Sheffield station. And we’re approximately a 6min walk from the shopping centre. And last but certainly not least we are located literally 1 min from west street ; full of bars and clubs food spots like Nando’s, domino’s kfc, Tsuki and Istanbul (a Turkish restaurant). There’s also a Qpark opposite if you have a car.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Every issue I’ve raised (only 1) has been handled very well.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Not really much, tbh I always do quite extensive research before moving into accommodations and I had already been living down the road before moving in so I knew basically everything already. They also let me have multiple viewing (in person and online before choosing a studio so it was all very felt out.

Was good in the beginning- went downhill

The property was taken over by City Living and it went downhill from there, it actually made me want to move out as they took long time to fix issues like broken door locks etc. The design of the place is modern and nice, gives off a luxury feel. Lots of community spaces like a sky lounge and resident lounge with tV’s.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area was good, lots of bars on west street as well as coffee shops and restaurants. Good distance from the city centre and both universities. Noisy outside because you’re so close to the bars though.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They took a long time, eventually this pushed me to move out. Broken door lock for months.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The bills are managed by community utilities who are terrible to work with, expensive and slow to respond to questions. Energy is very expensive here.

If you want to live in the city centre, then Loxley is fantastic. The apartments are well-equipped and included in the price is access to modern communal spaces 24/7. Due to these spaces, and the central location, the rent is higher than others around. If you make good use of these spaces then the rent is justified, and you won’t need to pay much for travel around the city as the vast majority of places are walkable.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living at Loxley means you’ll have easy walkable access to all restaurants, shops, pubs and clubs. The trade off of this is that there isn’t on-street parking and you’ll have to instead pay for a nearby multi-storey car park. With living so close to West Street, it can mean some noisy Friday and Saturday nights.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Being a new build, I had remarkably few maintenance issues during my stay, but the couple I raised were fixed there and then upon reporting them.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

For apartments looking out into Bailey Lane, there’s a workshop with a cryo storage container which is noisy at times. (Only particularly impactful as I worked Night shifts and needed to sleep in the day)

Pleasant in aesthetics and hospitality, good location, expensive.

Apartment design is mostly pleasing, staff are friendly and helpful. The resident lounge and skyroom are nice spaces if a little devoid of leisure activities found in the student building. Wifi is acceptable. Communal areas - corridors, lifts, stairs, lounges are well maintained.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Parking is plentiful but a little expensive, plenty of restaurants, shops and bars nearby, close to tram and Sheffield University campus. Traffic noise is not bad, a little noise from close nightclubs sometimes.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Always received prompt response, friendly staff. Problems fixed quickly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Annual rise of rent is something to take note of, a thorough inventory is recommended too

You’ll struggle to find a better place in Sheffield

Amazing facilities. The lobby is great for working and watching sporting events, and the sky lounge is a perfect location for hosting events and working, with an amazing view of the city that go as far as Meadowhall. Both can be booked for private events upon request.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Plenty of nearby stores, a few are open as late as 5AM every day. It’s a 2 minute walk to the nearest tram stop, and a 15 minute walk/7 minute tram ride to Sheffield train station. Parking is located across the road. The only noise I have noticed is the occasional sound of surrounding bars emptying bottles in to their bins at night.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I’ve only had one issue in my time here, and building maintenance were at my apartment in less than 30 minutes.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The building gets very quiet during the months when the nearby universities are taking breaks
